IVOR—For Tara Kea, small business is all about support.

That’s why the local photographer decided to host her own mini trade show at her studio on Saturday.

The lineup will include Mary Kay Cosmetics, Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Initial Outfitter, Thirty One and Signature Homestyles.

“All of these consultants are just getting started in each of their respective businesses,” Kea said. “They all supported me when I was just getting started, and I wanted to do something to help them. In the end, though, I’m hoping it will turn out to bring each of us some new business.”

Each consultant will set up small displays with samples. Some of the items being featured include makeup, food, kitchen items, home decorating items and more.

“You may place orders that day as well as purchase some cash-and-carry products that will be available,” Kea said. “There will be door prizes and special promotions.”

Kea said sometimes people dismiss home-based businesses as not being proper.

“It’s important that people realize that these are full-fledged, legitimate businesses,” she said.

She said supporting these home-based businesses will be mutually beneficial.

“I think this is important because in these economic times, if we can all work together to get our businesses growing, it will end up benefiting many,” she said.

The show will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at StudioK, 35257 General Mahone Blvd, Ivor. For more information, contact Kea at tara@photobytara.com.
