ONLEY—Franklin dominated another opponent Friday night, this time it was Nandua. After a slow start, the Broncos dialed it in and rang up the Warriors 44-0 in a non-district football game.
After a scoreless first quarter, Franklin got on the board when Donzell Shearin fielded a punt and ran 65 yards for a touchdown with 11:23 to play in the period.
Five minutes later, Isaiah Hudson ran for a 6-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion to put the Broncos up 16-0.
Franklin (7-1) took a 24-0 halftime lead when Shearin unloaded a 24-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Thompson. Hudson ran in the 2-point conversion.
The Broncos added three more touchdowns in the second half on a 15-yard run by Malik Brown, a 55-yard run by Elliott Bottoms, and a 2-yard run by Antwan Flythe.
Hudson led the Franklin rushing attack with 116 yards and Bottoms rushed for 93 yards. Shearin was 3-for-3 through the air for 53 yards.
“We are getting ready to go back to the drawing board with Sussex coming in. We are looking forward to having a good week of practice,” said Franklin head coach Darren Parker.
The Broncos have a key Tri-Rivers District matchup at home against Sussex Central Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
“Sussex is traditionally a football school and coach Jefferson and his staff are going to uphold that tradition,” Parker said about Franklin’s next opponent.
