Harry F. Elsner
TAZEWELL—Harry Fred Elsner, 100, of Heritage Hall, formerly of Bluefield, died Oct. 14, 2008, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Elsner was born in Madison, Wis. and was a son of the late Frederick W. Elsner and Ida B. Crary Martin.
He had worked for more than 40 years for Dr. A.J. Martin Optical Shops in Welch and Bluefield.
He was a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church, a member of the Bluefield Mercer Lodge 85, a Master Mason, Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years and a White Shriner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Nieder Elsner.
Survivors include his daughters, Rosemary E. Hodges and husband Orval L. of Franklin and Sue E. Johnson and husband Arnold of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Talledo and husband Roy of Roswell, Ga. and the Rev. Frederick A. Hodges and wife Anjanette of Christiansburg; and great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Miguel Talledo, Nathaniel, and Nicholas and Ethan Hodges.
A funeral was to be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Dudley Memorial Chapel, Bluefield, with the Rev. Phyllis Spiegel officiating.
Burial was to follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens.
Friends was scheduled to visit with the Elsner family Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the hour of services at the Dudley Memorial Mortuary, Bluefield.
