COURTLAND—Members of the Southampton County School Board received plaques at their meeting Monday, following their recognition by the Virginia School Boards Association.
The VSBA awarded the school board its annual Board of Distinction Award.
“Our board works very hard and does an outstanding job,” said Superintendent Charles Turner.
The board will be recognized at the annual VSBA convention Nov. 19-21 in Williamsburg.
The VSBA – a voluntary, nonpartisan association representing the state’s 134 school boards – is headquartered in Charlottesville.
In other business at their meeting Monday, the board received a progress report on the renovation of Southampton Middle School, Turner said.
