IP to close California, Georgia plants

International Paper reportedly is shutting down two of its smaller plants by the end of the year.
The plants — in Stockbridge, Ga. and Hanford, Calif. — will lay off 86 and 90 employees, respectively.
It is not yet clear how, if at all, the move will affect IP’s Franklin plant.
The Georgia and California plants are two of IP’s smaller facilities and produce corrugated container products for industrial packaging.
IP had announced earlier this month that it would shut down a plant in Mason, Ohio, eliminating 93 jobs, and lay off 40 people at its Albany, Ore., containerboard plant.
