Think you have a knack for taking beautiful photos? Ever dream of having those photos appear in a glossy calendar for someone to admire?

If that doesn’t entice you, how does a $500 gas card sound?

The Tidewater News is looking for photo submissions for its annual calendar contest.

The grand prize winner will have his or her photo featured on the cover of the 2009 calendar and get one year home delivery of the newspaper, as well as the gas card. Runners-up will have their photo and names featured on one month, as well as a year of home delivery.

Photos must be taken in or depict the newspaper coverage area, which includes Franklin, Isle of Wight County and Southampton County.

Preference will be given to photos that include local people and great scenery.

The contest deadline is Sunday, Oct. 12.
