Byrd Clayborne Sr.
WAKEFIELD—Byrd Clayborne Sr., of 108 Williams Lane, died Sept. 24, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Clayborne was born May 5, 1912 to the late Dicy Clayborne and Girgil Clayborne, both of Wakefield.
He was a retired automobile mechanic and a deacon of First Baptist Church Missionary and a member of the Senior Citizens of Eastern Sussex County and the Odd Fellows of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Clayborne, one son, Cornell Clayborne, and a daughter, Alice Clayborne.
Survivors include three sons, John Clayborne of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Byrd Clayborne Jr. of Hopewell and Lorenzo Clayborne of Wakefield; one daughter, Brenda Clark of Wakefield; caretakers, Steve Turner, Danyelle Benton, Louise Stith, Catherine Peden; and granddaughters, Collette Turner and Nia Clark, 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at First Baptist Church, Wakefield, with the Rev. Bobby Ricks Sr. officiating and Minister Stanley Jones III eulogizing.
Interment will be held at Booker T. Memorial Park, Wakefield.
