James J. Therrien Sr.
WINDSOR—James J. Therrien Sr., 62, died Sept. 28, 2008, in his wife’s loving arms of 39 years.
He was a native of Winsted, Conn., and a resident of Isle of Wight for 18 years.
Mr. Therrien was a retired Hampton Police officer and retired from the fraud security banking system after serving 28 years faithfully.
He graduated from George Washington University in 1978, and was a National Certified Fraud Examiner.
He was a devoted family and community man.
Mr. Therrien was always there for anyone who needed him with his wit and humor.
Mr. Therrien was a faithful member of the American Legion, associate member of Virginia Sheriff’s Institute, VBSA, State Crime Clinic and Local Crime Clinic, Hampton FOP Lodge No. 26, and Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Vivian Therrien, he is survived by his wife, Sheila L. Therrien of Isle of Wight; two sons, James J. Therrien Jr. of Windsor and Thomas G. Therrien of Chesapeake; two sisters Catherine T. Wheeler and partner Duane Stoughton of Torrington, Conn., and Barbara T. Pearson and husband Bruce of Wonder Lake, Ill.
A life celebration service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Barry Reel officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private.
