PORTSMOUTH—Dorothy Virginia Warren Bowser, 84, of the 900 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, died Sept. 25, 2008.
She was born to the late Daniel B. and Pattie L. Warren on Feb. 18, 1924, in Boykins.
Mrs. Bowser attended Portsmouth Public Schools. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the early age of 16.
She then became a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church Family in Portsmouth, also known as “The Light House on Airline Blvd.” She served there for many years as an usher on the No. 2 Female Usher Board, and after which, became a faithful member of the Deaconess Board.
She was married to the late Deacon Roscoe T. Bowser. To this union were born nine children.
Survivors include Christine (John) Gray of Baltimore, Md., Betty Steele of Sacramento, Calif., Roscoe (Louise) Bowser, Patricia and Jacqueline Bowser of Portsmouth, George (Dorothy) Bowser of Windsor, Larry (Betty) Bowser and Glenwood Bowser of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Linwood Bowser.
To many, she was known as “Peaches, Mom-Peaches and Grandma-Peaches”.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was loved and cherished by all who knew her.
A life celebration service was held at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 2608 Airline Blvd., Portsmouth, Tuesday. Pastor Ernest L. Reid Jr., officiated.
Interment followed at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, Chesapeake, was in charge of arrangements.
