SUFFOLK—Thelma L. Davis, 90, of 150 Lee St., died Sept. 19, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital.
A native of Southampton County, she was born to the late William and Laura Valentine and was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Shields and Carl Davis.
Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Wynn; a brother, William Valentine; and stepmother, Beatrice F. Valentine.
She was a long-time member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she served on the Senior Usher Board and was a member of the Missionary Circle.
Survivors include a loving daughter, Olivia L. Shields (William T. Turner Jr.); stepbrother, William Valentine of Hampton; three stepsisters, Shirley Walters of Somerset, N.J., Barbara Warren of Virginia Beach, and Vineonie Pickett of Newark, N.J.; one sister-in-law, Mary Alice Valentine; one brother-in-law, Abby Pickett; special nephew, Alvin Wynn; one niece and several other nephews.
Funeral services was held Tuesday at Metropolitan Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Robert E. Hobbs Sr.
Interment was in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
