Roxie L. Evans
FRANKLIN—Roxie L. Evans, 89, of the 700 block of Oak St., died Sept. 16, 2008, in Courtland Healthcare Center after a short illness.
She was the daughter of the late George W. Woodley and Dolly Parham Woodley.
Mrs. Evans retired from private duty nursing after many years of service.
She was a member of New Olive Branch Baptist Church and served in many capacities including senior usher board, senior choir, missionary, pastor’s aide and Sunday school.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Evans; sons, Jesse Evans Sr. and William H. Evans; daughters, Emma Evans and Evelyn Faulk.
Survivors include 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Olive Branch Baptist Church, Suffolk, with the Rev. William Ruffin officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home.
