Betty B. Barnes
BOYKINS—Betty Babb Barnes, 76, died Sept. 17, 2008.
She was born in Norfolk, a daughter of the late Jack Riddick and Oretha Beaton Babb.
Mrs. Barnes was retired as a clerk after 20 plus years with Boykins Pharmacy.
She, along with Tommy, was very active in the Boykins Rainbow Relay for Life and a member of Boykins Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, David Carter “Tommy” Barnes; her son, Wayne Thomas Barnes and wife Ann of Virginia Beach; one sister, Linda B. Carr and husband Bobby of Boykins; three grandchildren, Kayce Lynn Barnes, Kara Diehl, Micah Seltzer; two great-grandchildren, Grace and Hannah Diehl; and two special nieces, Stacy Carr and Stephanie Meadows and husband John.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn and John Meadows officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence and suggests memorials be made to Boykins Rainbow Relay for Life, c/o Mrs. Evelyn Ford, 18309 Commerce Street, Boykins, Va. 23827 or Boykins Baptist Church, P. O. Box 316, Boykins, Va. 23827. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge of arrangements.
