Roland L. Joyner Sr.
WINDSOR—Roland Lester Joyner Sr., 76, of the 8300 block West Blackwater Road, died Sept. 6, 2008, in Sentara Norfolk General after a short illness.
Mr. Joyner was a native of Onley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Joyner and mother, Geneva Frazier.
He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. after 32 years of service.
He was a member of El Bethel Worship Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Linwood Joyner.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Joyner; sons, Tyrone Joyner, Michael Joyner and Roland Joyner Jr.; daughters, Patricia Riddick and Rose Claiborne; brothers Linwood and Saunders Frazier; sister, Ellen Porton; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at El Bethel Worship Center, Suffolk, with Prophetess Freda Y. Cross, officiating.
Burial will follow in Franklin.
