William B. Spruill
VIRGINIA BEACH—William Brantly Spruill, 93, if the 800 block of Silvercrest Lane, died Sept. 2, 2008.
A native of Creswell, N.C., he was the son of the late Walton C. and Mary Woodley Spruill.
Mr. Spruill was a barber for many years at the Riverview Barbershop on Granby Street and later opened Spruill’s Barbershop in Indian River. He was a member of Laurel Avenue Church of Christ where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Josephine D. Spruill; daughter, Barbara Sue Gordon and husband Glenn of Virginia Beach; two sons, Rodney W. Spruill Sr. and wife Lois of Virginia Beach and Gary B. Spruill and wife Chris of Mechanicsville; four granddaughters, Kimberly Ivey and husband John, Melinda Spruill, all of Richmond, Kelly Martin of Virginia Beach and Julie LeMaster and husband Matthew of Austell, Ga.; two grandsons, Skip Liverman and wife Wendi and Rodney Spruill Jr. and wife Wynter, all of Richmond; sister, Christine Blount of Virginia Beach; brother, Thomas Spruill and wife Joyce of Franklin; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, with Ministers Rupert Wallace and Brandon Spruill officiating.
Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
