Time to make a point

As the Franklin School Board begins its search to hire a superintendent, citizens are being afforded two opportunities to offer suggestions that may shape the search process.
A two-page survey is being circulated by school administrators, asking for “input to help prioritize criteria in the search of a new superintendent.”
“Opinions of school employees, parents and Franklin citizens” are welcomed, according to a cover letter accompanying the survey.
That survey is available electronically through the Web site www.franklincity.k12.va.us. Hard copies are available at schools, the school board offices, and is being mailed to organizations, churches and various businesses around the city. They can be returned by mail or by hand to the nearest school.
In addition, a public hearing is also scheduled for Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers for residents to speak directly to board members to outline traits they think are important in screening candidates.
In short, it’s time for those who want to participate in the process to do so.
