Alice G. Bridger

SUFFOLK—Alice Gardner Bridger, 84, of the 3200 block of Holland Road, recently a resident of the Village at Woods Edge in Franklin, died Aug. 8, 2008.

Born March 24, 1924, in Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel Randolph Gardner and Jessie Aldelide Holland Gardner and was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Bridger.

Mrs. Bridger worked for many years at Johnson’s Gardens and Florist.

She was a member of Holland Baptist Church where she served as a deacon and past president of the Senior Citizens Club.

She was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gail B. and Fred Roppo of Portland, Maine; son and daughter-in-law, Sterling and Joyce Bridger of Franklin; grandchildren, Angie Brownlee and Brian Bridger; great-grandson, Davis Brownlee; and several nieces and nephews on the Bridger and Gardner side.

A funeral was held Monday in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory by the Rev. Robert Bunn with burial in Holland Cemetery.
