NORFOLK-A Franklin man who was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Courtland the night of his graduation from Southampton High School has been released from the hospital.

Hudson Gavin, 18, was discharged from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital July 3, according to a hospital spokesperson.

He had been admitted to the hospital after he was thrown from his vehicle when it ran into a utility pole on Flaggy Run Road near Main Street in Courtland.

Gavin was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a Virginia State Police spokesperson.
