Stella V. Ford

NORFOLK—Stella V. Ford, 80, of the 1100 block of Elliott Street, died July 8, 2008, in Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 2, 1927, to the late Alease C. and Waverly Scott Sr. in Southampton County, where she attended Southampton County Public Schools.

Mrs. Ford retired in 1988 after 30 years of service as a domestic worker.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Logan Park, where she was a member of the Women’s Usher Board and the Angellic Choir.

She was also a member of the Wives of Titustown Social Club.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse J. Ford, two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one devoted daughter, Doris Hill of Chesapeake; one brother, Waverly Scott Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Adrienne R. Liu (Henry) of Norfolk and Sheila Hill of Chesapeake; one great-grandson, Jason C. Hill of Chesapeake; and a host of great-nieces and -nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Logan Park, 7493 Diven St. The Rev. George H. Spicer will officiate.

Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 1115 Elliott St. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church.

Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel, is in charge.
