COURTLAND—Mr. and Mrs. James E. Holland Jr. of Courtland and Mr. and Mrs. Brett S. Carter Sr. of Suffolk announce the engagement of their daughter, Alison N. Carter, to Nathaniel W. Collier.

Carter is a 2003 graduate of Franklin High School, a 2007 graduate of the University of Mary Washington, earning a B.A. in Historic Preservation, and will graduate in 2009 from the University of Kentucky with a Masters degree in Historic Preservation.

Collier is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Collier of Lexington, Ky.

He is a 2001 graduate of Henry Clay High School, a 2004 graduate of the University of Kentucky, earning a B.A. in History, and will graduate in 2009 from Cincinnati Christian University in Ohio with a Masters of Arts and Religion degree.

The wedding will be held Dec. 20 in the Chapel at Franklin Baptist Church.
