SMITHFIELD—Robert H. Green, 86, died June 30, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

A native of Smithfield, he was born to the late Charlie and Delia Shivers Green.

He was the widower of Rosa G. Green and retired from Luter Packing Company after 42 years.

Mr. Green was an Army War Veteran and also a member of the Little Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include three children, Elmer Green (Portia) of Portsmouth, Lizzie Williams (Robert) and Helena Urguhart, all of Smithfield; four foster-children, Cynthia Diggs, Perlie Diggs and Bobby Davis (Stephanie), all of Smithfield, and Helen Simpson of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren, cousins, in-laws, relatives and friends.

A service of celebration was held Thursday at Little Zion Baptist Church by Pastor Melvin T. Blackwell.

Interment was in the Baptist Memorial Cemetery.

The Green family is being served by the staff of Shivers Funeral Chapel, Smithfield.
