Robert C. Eubank

SUFFOLK—Robert Councill &uot;Bob&uot; Eubank, 89, died July 2, 2008, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Richmond, a son of the late Robert W. and Jessie C. Eubank.
Mr. Eubank was predeceased by two brothers, Rodman Eubank and Thomas Eubank.
He moved to Franklin at age 10 and graduated from Franklin High School in 1937, and, much later, from Paul D. Camp Community College in 1974.
He proudly served with the 13th Armored Division of the U. S. Army in the European theater during World War II.
He settled in the Holland area of Suffolk and became a member of the Holland Ruritan Club in 1957 where his interest continued for the next 50 years.
He held many positions in Ruritan, but the erection of the Ruritan Monument in Holland was his special project.
He published a book about the founding of Ruritan in Holland and donated all proceeds to Ruritan. Following his retirement from Hercules in 1981.
He pursued his hobby of cabinet- and furniture-making for a number of years. He was a member of the Holland Christian Church and held several offices, including Sunday School teacher, member and Chairman of the Board of Deacons, and member of the Board of Trustees.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Frances Councill Eubank of Suffolk; his daughter, Joan Eubank DeCosmo and husband Dr. Vincent DeCosmo; one granddaughter, Melissa DeCosmo; and one grandson, Stephen DeCosmo, all of Ligonier, Pa.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wright Funeral Home.
Interment, with military honors, will follow at Holland Cemetery.
