Odelle B. Smith

FRANKLIN—Odelle Bailey Smith, 88, died June 22, 2008.
She was born in Lawrenceville, a daughter of the late Carrie Braswell and Stephen William Bailey.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Francis Merle Smith who was a supervisor at Union Camp Corp.; a grandson, Nathan Travis Unruh; two sisters, Blanche Braswell Danford and Alice Bailey Samford; and two brothers, Andrew Allison Bailey and William Donald Bailey.
Mrs. Smith was a resident of Franklin for almost 70 years and had a food catering service.
She was a charter member of the Franklin Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.
She dressed dolls and knitted hats for the Head Start program and afghans for almost everyone she knew.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Smith Unruh, and husband Walter; grandson, Winston Unruh, all of Hopedale, Ma.; two sisters, Virginia Bailey Vaughan, Ann Bailey Peebles and husband, Marion, a brother-in-law, William Boyd Samford, all of Lawrenceville; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, with Order of Eastern Star rites, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sharon James officiating.
