Fishburne-Strickler

RICHMOND—The marriage of Roberta Lewis Gwathmey Fishburne of Richmond, daughter of the late Eleanor Gwathmey Lane Fishburne of Richmond, to Steve Alan Strickler of Glen Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Carroll Strickler of Franklin,took place June 28, at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church.

The Rev. Kenneth Proctor Lane Jr. of Roanoke, uncle of the bride, officiated.

The bride, escorted by her brother and given in marriage by her family and friends, is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Proctor Lane of Richmond.

The groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. McFarland of Fieldale, Va., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Elbert H. Strickler of Luray.

Majken Lee Carlson of Mechanicsville, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Emily Zehler Fishburne, sister in-law of the bride, of Richmond, and Jody Stock Young of Mechanicsville.

Frederick Christopher Coley of Richmond served as best man.

Groomsmen were Elbert Carroll Strickler, father of the groom, and Kenneth Procter Lane Fishburne, brother of the bride, of Richmond.

Flower girls were Ainslie Caroline Coley, goddaughter of the groom, of Richmond, Zoe Evan Lester and Madeline Eloise Lester of Norfolk, cousins of the bride.

Reader was Elisabeth Ellington Dixon of Richmond.

Music at the ceremony was by Jim Doering, organist.

The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at the Ironhorse Restaurant.

The reception was held at the Henry Clay Inn.

After a honeymoon in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park, the couple will reside in Glen Allen.
