FRANKLIN—A Franklin man shot three times outside of an apartment in Berkley Court last week remains in stable condition at MCV Hospital in Richmond, and police are asking for help finding his assailant.

Franklin Police Lt. T.W. Whitt would not release the 18-year-old victim’s name on Tuesday, noting that the crime is still under investigation, and police are trying to protect the man from potential further attacks.

Whitt said investigators had visited the victim on Monday, however, and were able to report that his condition is unchanged.

The victim was standing with a group of three to five people in the front yard of an apartment June 16 when three men wearing bandanas over their faces approached the group, according to police reports.

The suspects then brandished weapons and ordered the victims to lie on the ground.

Instead, the victims fled in separate directions, and at least one of the suspects opened fire with what witnesses described as a long gun, Whitt said last week.

Three shots were fired, he said, and one of the victims was hit in the left arm and in both legs.

Whitt asked that anyone with information about the crime contact Franklin Crime Solvers at 562-8599.

Callers do not have to divulge their identities, and information that leads to an arrest could earn the caller up to $1,000 in cash.
