She was born in Petersburg,

May 31, 1944, the daughter of the late Murdie Virginia Vaughan.

She was a loving, faithful Christian who touched many lives with her unfaltering love and compassion.

Her laughter was infectious and warmed many hearts. Due to her illness, she retired as a certified nursing assistant after 30 years of service.

She was a member of Emmaus Church-A Four Square Congregation, Chesapeake.

She was preceded in death by a twin sister, Janice Marie Vaughan; son, Carl Joseph Palmer; mother, Murdie Virginia Vaughan and brother-in- law, Jerry J. Redmon.

Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Kauget and fiance Bill Vasold of Long Island, N.Y.; son, James Palmer and wife Sharon; daughter-in- law, MaryEllen Palmer, all of Cohoes, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Matthew Palmer of Cohoes, N.Y. and Acacia Palmer of Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, John W. Vaughan Jr. and wife Linda of Louisville, Ky., Charles Douglas Vaughan and wife Gloria of Capron and sister Patricia A. Redmon of Chesapeake; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Whalen and the entire staff at Sentara Nursing Center and especially the nursing staff at Station One for their care, love and support given to her during her illness.

Sincere gratitude goes to Penny Green, her lifelong friend, and Virginia Meeks, her personal nursing aide and friend, for their love and support.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today. Burial to follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
