VIRGINIA BEACH—Clarice Elizabeth Washington, born Nov. 5, 1908, died June 21, 2008.
She would have been 100 years old on her next birthday.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County and attended Smithfield High School and Norfolk Business College.
She was employed at Little Creek Ferry and retired from Norshipco. She attended Indian River Baptist Church and was church historian. Her special interests were Women’s Missionary Society and especially Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong.
She was an avid writer and reader, and enjoyed her family time.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, George and Susanna Lavinia Washington and leaves behind many family members and friends.
She lived with the Moodys from the age of 20 being a vital part of the family, and now a rich part of its history. The family wishes to express deep thanks to the staff of Oakwood Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice Care for their kindness and attentiveness.
A funeral will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. Presiding will be the Rev. Robert Jordan.
Burial will be at Mill Swamp Cemetery in Smithfield.
She wishes for donations to be made to Indian River Baptist Church or Union Mission. “Well done thy good and faithful servant.”
