Raymond I. Kriigel

WESTBY, Wis.—Raymond Ivan Kriigel, 91, formerly of Norwalk, Wis., died June 18, 2008, at the Norseland Nursing Home.
Mr. Kriigel was born on Feb. 21, 1917, to Bernard and Rose (Jahn) Kriigel in La Crosse, Wis.
He graduated from LaFarge High School. He farmed for many years before becoming a banker at the Community State Bank in Norwalk for more than 30 years.
On Feb. 16, 1985, he was united in Holy matrimony to Helen McElhose Newlun at St. Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran church in Norwalk.
He loved being outdoors and treasured time in his garden.
He had a green thumb for growing beautiful pink roses at “Old Times” in Westby.
Survivors include his son Dennis L. (Nancy) Kriigel of Courtland; a daughter, Peggy R. (Ira) Brainbridge of Brookfield, Wis.; stepson, Bob (Lori) Newlun of Windsor, Wis.; his brother Larry D. Kriigel (Doris) Kriigel of Florence, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the St. Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norwalk. Pastor Matthew Minzlaff will officiate.
Burial will be in the St. Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery outside of Norwalk.
Family and friends are invited for visitation Saturday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton, Wis.
The Torkelson Funeral Home of Cashton is assisting the family with arrangements.
