Raymond Johnson

NORFOLK—Raymond “Ray” or “Mickey” Johnson, 63, of the 3500 block of Humboldt St., died June 3, 2008, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

He was born Dec. 1, 1944, to the late Annie H. Mann (James) and Nathaniel Johnson (Velma) in Norfolk.

Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and attended Old Dominion University, Norfolk. Ray was a certified licensed contractor and was the owner of JR Construction Co. for 35 years.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Rudolph Boston and Nathaniel Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Josephine Johnson; one daughter, Angela Stevens (Eddie) of Norfolk; one son, Barry Green (Carolyn) of Franklin; two sisters, Bettie Ebron of New York and Anita Andrews of Georgia; one brother, Eric Johnson (Evelyn) of New York; five grandchildren, Lataisia and Domonic Harrison, Eddie Stevens III, Jasmine Green and Makayla Stevens; four great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Lillie Peele and Lillian Boston; two special cousins, Deborah Turnage and Dorothy Stith; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral was held Monday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Dr. Craig C. Avents officiated.

Interment was in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
