RALEIGH, N.C.—William A. “Bill” Perrot, 77, died June 4, 2008, at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Perrot lived in Wake Forest, N.C., 35 years prior to moving to Wakefield in 2002.

He was born Dec. 11, 1930, in Portsmouth, as the youngest of seven children of the late George Erle Perrot and Margaret Eller Perrot.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Sister Jane Marie Perrot, Katharine Simmons and Elizabeth Kerecman; brothers, George E. Perrot Jr. and Bill’s twin Henry E. Perrot; by his wife of 31 years, Ophelia Johnson Perrot; and stepdaughter, Gwynne P. Gilliam.

Survivors include his wife of eight years, Diana “Deedee” Lee Perrot (retired sergeant first class, NCARNG); sister, Margaret Conaway of Virginia Beach; son, William A. “Bill” Perrot Jr. of Nova Scotia, Canada; daughter, Marcella Teague and husband Willie; grandson, Trey Brown of Mebane, N.C.; son, Robert Perrot and family of Chesterfield; daughter, Kathryn P. Rainey and family of Petersburg; and son-in-law, Ray Gilliam of Galveston, Texas; numerous loving nieces and nephews and their families (he was a favorite uncle to them all), sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

After graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy, Portsmouth, in 1947,he

apprenticed and worked in the Newport News Ship Building & Dry Dock which was followed by his years of service with the Virginia State Police.

He later worked as a salesman for The Overhead Door Co. He moved from Petersburg to Wake Forest in 1967, retiring from Sears in 1990 after 20 years with the company.

He was a quiet, unassuming man, whose faith in the Lord never wavered, setting an example for others.

He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Wake Forest Baptist Church serving his Lord and church family in varied capacities. He was the co-chairman of the 1994 Sanctuary Renovation Team.

He served as chairman of the Properties Committee for many years.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Wake Forest Baptist Church, 107 E. South Ave., Wake Forest, N.C.
