SMITHFIELD—Winifred “Winnie” Evelyn Watts Crumpler, 90, died May 27, 2008, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Crumpler was a native of Petersburg, and a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a life member of Whitehead’s Grove Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, the late James Shirley Crumpler Sr., she is survived by two sons, James “Jimmy” S. Crumpler Jr. and wife Brenda, and Michael B. Crumpler, all of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Cheryl Ann High (Ben), James R. Crumpler and Christina Grace Crumpler; a great-granddaughter, Cassidy Anna High.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. today in St. Luke’s Memorial Park, with Pastor Mark Habecker officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
