What’s the best part of your day? Spending time with my family

If you could select another profession, what would you do? I love what I do, and in my opinion, I think it’s the most fulfilling profession.

Why do you choose to live in Franklin/Southampton/Isle of Wight County? It keeps our children in an excellent school system and it keeps us in close proximity to our church.

If you had two weeks’ vacation and money were no object, how would you spend your time? I would take my family on a European vacation.

Favorite food: Every preacher loves fried chicken.

What’s the best life lesson you’ve learned, and who taught you? To be responsible and respectful — my beloved grandmother Allie Boone

What’s the best decision you’ve made in life? To accept Jesus as my personal saviour

What’s your hobby? Learning

If you could re-live one day of your life, which would it be and why? The day I proposed to wife, it was a memorable moment for us and our families.

What gives you the blues? When there is a lack of understanding of the importance of family.

What’s the most Southern thing you’ve ever done? Put sugar in my white rice

What’s your best childhood memory? Riding in the back of my grandfather’s Ford F-100 on our farm

What frightens you most? People who don’t understand that we all have gifts and a purpose to fulfill

If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be and why? Raleigh/Durham, N.C. area. It’s a real clean area with a ton of potential.

Who’s your favorite ex-president? Abraham Lincoln

If you could pass or change one law, what would it be? To place a limit on fuel costs. Oil prices are ridiculous.

What last brought tears to your eyes? When our youth choir and praise dance ministry ministers at our church

If you could invite three guests - living or dead, from anytime in history - to dinner, who would they be? My grandparents Harvey and Allie Boone, and Martin Luther King Jr.

What three objects would you take with you to a desert island? Bible, 100 percent grape juice and a hat

What kind of music do you like, and who’s your favorite performer? Gospel, Fred Hammond

Tell us about a good movie you’ve seen lately and why you liked it. “Why I Got Married” by Tyler Perry. It housed a marvelous message of overcoming obstacles and perseverance.

To whom are you grateful and why? I am grateful to my pastor and first lady Drs. Kim and Valerie Brown. I am eternally grateful to my parents Deacon Raymond and the Rev. Sarah Pope for all they poured into me. Thank you so much, I love you.
