Annie S. Lee

SUFFOLK—Annie Smith Lee, of the 1600 block of College Drive, died May 28, 2008, at Sentara Obici Hospital.

A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Joe Bailey and Annie Smith and the widow of Clarence B. Lee.

Mrs. Lee was retired from Goldkist Peanut Company. She was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church where she sang in the Second Senior Choir, served on the Kitchen Committee, and was a member of the Missionary Society.

Survivors include two daughters, Valda Lee-Lopez, of Suffolk and Elonka Harrison of Smithfield; two sons, Aaron Batten of Newark, N.J. and Adrian Batten of Germantown, Md.; two brothers, Leslie Smith and William Smith, of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Desmond, Aaron Jr., Jenelle, George Anthony, and George Antonio; one great-grandchild, Isaiah; sisters-in-law, Bertha Smith, of Newark, N.J., and Velma Lee, of Chesapeake; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were to be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Little Bethel Baptist Church, 6533 Everetts Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Bernard Thomas.

Interment was to follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at 6141-B College Drive, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
