FORT WAYNE, Ind.—Edna Callis-Stagg, 86, formerly of Smithfield, died May 11, 2008, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Mathews.

During World War II, she worked in the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co. After the war she was a homemaker for the remainder of her life.

She will be missed by her husband, Eugene W. Stagg Sr.; son, Eugene W. (Victoria) Stagg Jr.; one grandson; one granddaughter; four great-granddaughters; brother, Tom (Sally) Callis of Mathews.

She is preceded in death by one grandson; three brothers and two sisters.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. today at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.
