FRANKLIN—Virgil Emerson “Pete” Miller, 85, died April 27, 2008.

Born in Middlesex County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Emma Mason Miller and was a retired dairyman and farmer.

He was a 50 year member of Hunterdale Ruritan Club, a member of the Virginia Dairyman Association and a member of Hunterdale Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Smith Miller; several nieces and nephews; and a cherished friend, Charles M. Saunders III.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Bradley and William Miller.

A graveside service was held Tuesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Roger Crump officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of choice.
