SMITHFIELD—Patricia Manning Hoagland, 66, a native of Charlotte, N.C. and Smithfield resident for the past six years, died April 21, 2008, after being diagnosed with lung cancer four months ago.
‘Pat,’ as she was known by friends and family, was predeceased by her loving husband, Clarence Pat Hoagland; her parents, Bobbie B. Manning Sr. and Senna R. Manning; her sister, Sadie M. Etters.
Survivors include her son, Steven Alan Hoagland; and daughter, Shari Hoagland McCall and husband William; three grandchildren, Mark C. McCall, Danielle K. McCall and Kimberly M. McCall; her sister, Sandra L. Matthews; sister, Jewell M. Helms and husband Garry; her brother, William H. Manning and wife JoAnn; brother, James A. O’Conner and wife Carolyn; brother Bobbie B. Manning Jr. and wife Ann; her aunt, Lucy P. Taylor; brother-in-law, Robert W. Hoagland and
wife Virginia D. Hoagland; plus many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hoagland was a strong believer in Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was a loving wife and mother with the heart of an angel. Her heart and prayers went out to all unfortunate people, and supported strongly our troops overseas and their mission, and she supported disabled veterans.
Although she had a few jobs throughout her life, she was primarily a full-time mother and homemaker who tirelessly sacrificed for her family.
She instilled in her children the value of ‘going with your heart’ and always standing up for what’s right. When others were in pain, she hurt for them even while battling medical problems herself.
Special thanks to Sentara Hospice and Home Sweet Home Care personnel for their exceptional care.
A memorial service will be held at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 113 E. Parkwood St., Stanley, N.C. 28164, led by Pastor, Dr. Danny Penny on Sunday beginning at 4 p.m.
