Harry G. Barrett Jr.

NEWSOMS—Harry Grover Barrett Jr., 86, a lifelong resident of the Statesville community, died April 21, 2008.

A retired farmer, he was the son of the late Harry Grover Barrett Sr. and Eunice Myrick Barrett.

He was a charter member of the Newsoms Ruritan Club and a 50 plus year member of Courtland Masonic Lodge #85 AF&AM.

Mr. Barrett was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Louise Lilly Barrett; his daughter, Mary Lou Smith and husband David of Cary, N.C.; two sons, Grover Barrett and wife Terry of Richmond and Carter Barrett and wife Martha of Poquoson; nine grandchildren, Jackie S. Jenkins and husband Adam, Rebecca Smith, Jonathan and Emma Barrett, Darden Barrett, Grey, Elizabeth, Anne and Mellie Ligon.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Barnes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating.

Interment, with Masonic Rites, will follow in Hollywood Cemetery.
