SUFFOLK—Helen Barnes Edwards, 82, died April 17, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

Born in Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Helen R. and Jacob B. Barnes.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Outland Edwards and their son, Robert &uot;Bruce&uot; Edwards.

Mrs. Edwards was a bus driver for the Suffolk City Schools, a member of the Western Branch Baptist Church of Suffolk and the Ruth Bible Class.

Survivors include her daughters, Winnie Gaile Zimmerman of Carrsville, Martha Paige Edwards of Suffolk; grandchildren, Marcus Wayne Zimmerman III, Kimberly Brook Holmes, Nicholas Z. Zimmerman; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Steven Hills with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
