Beatrice A. Meade

HAMPTON—Beatrice Alice Meade, 86, died April 16, 2008.

Before becoming a volunteer at Riverside Hospital, Beatrice was employed at Langley Air Force Base.

She loved to shop and travel, and was an active member of the AARP and the American Legion Auxiliary 0025.

Mrs. Meade was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph T. Meade, and sons, Tommy and Timmy Meade.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and James Woodard of Hampton, Betty and Alton Gwaltney Sr. of Smithfield; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Brenda Phillips of St. Paul, Va.; sister, Patricia Davis of Johnson City, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service was to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Entombment was to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
