NEWSOMS—Ellen Davis Cook, 84, widow of Robert Bynum Cook, died April 12, 2008.

Mrs. Cook was born in Conway, N.C., a daughter of the late Frank E. and Annie Britton Davis and was predeceased by a sister, Maxine Askew and two brothers, Clyde and Grady Davis. She was a retired secretary from Cook and Sons, Inc. and a member of Newsoms United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia C. Newsome, Linda C. Porter and husband Donnie; two sons, Curtis B. Cook and wife Sandra, Billy R. Cook and wife Patricia, all of Newsoms;

one sister, Delcy D. Draper of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; one brother, Carlton Davis of Rocky Mount, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Michael K. Ellis, Angela E. Ricks, Curtis B. Cook II, Donnie C. Porter II, Robert L. Cook, Patty C. Everett, Julie C. O’Bryant; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Revs. Darwin Edwards and Kenneth Williams officiating.

Interment followed in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association, P. O. Box 1224, Franklin, Va. 23851.

The family would like to thank the caregivers, Hattie Pearson, Vicki Gray and Amy Vick.
