RICHMOND—William Nichols Pollard of Richmond is pleased to announce the engagement of his daughter, Anne Katherine Pollard, to Clifford Applewhite, also of Richmond.

Pollard is also the daughter of the late Gail Gooch Pollard.

Applewhite is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Allen Applewhite Jr. of Courtland.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hal Beckham Gooch and the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Robinson Pollard III, all of Richmond.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julian Lowell Carter of Newsoms and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Allen Applewhite Sr. of Courtland.

She is a 1999 graduate of Douglas Freeman High School and a 2003 graduate of Lynchburg College, where she received a bachelor’s of science degree in education. She is employed by Hanover County Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher.

He is a 1995 graduate of Southampton High School and a 1999 graduate of James Madison University, where he received a bachelor of business administration in marketing. He is employed by James River Equipment in Chester.

The wedding will take place in July in Richmond.
