How’s business: Business is alive and well. Our first year we made expenses. The barn is staying full of boarders. More people are finding out about the carriage rides at the farm and the ponies available for parties.

One thing you wish everyone knew about your business: We are right here in Franklin. The carriage rides are as close as Wal-Mart yet in a country, farmland setting. Picnics are also available with the ride.

Something you offer that a customer won’t find elsewhere: Sol Rawls Jr. graciously allows my boarders to ride over his entire beautiful farm (more than 700 acres). He also allows me to have carriage rides on the farm.

Advice to young entrepreneurs: Age doesn’t matter. God made life to be enjoyed so follow your heart and your interests. Making the most money is not always the best goal. When you work at something you enjoy, your salary becomes a fringe benefit.

Your first job: Clerk in the ladies fine foundations at Leggett’s

Your role model (in business or in life generally): I try to keep Jesus Christ as my role model. People with His values are usually people who see life more clearly; so are the best teachers and leaders.

The key to a successful business is: Be honest and expect honesty in others. After that it is just a lot of hard work.
