Oneta F. Hancock

FRANKLIN—Oneta Flowers Hancock, 73, widow of Garth Stuart Hancock Sr., died March 29, 2008.

She was born in Alberta, a daughter of the late Henry Lee and Evie Forest Flowers, and was a retired peanut inspector and Certified Nursing Assistant.

Mrs. Hancock was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, its choir, Sebrell-Story Sunday School Class, Sally Richardson Circle, the Building & Grounds Committee, was active in the Acteens, and for years, faithfully delivered meals to homebounds on Wednesday evenings.

She was a volunteer Pink Lady at Southampton Memorial.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia W. Dorn and husband Ralph of Alexandria; her son, Henry E. “Hank” Wethington Jr. of Franklin; three sisters, Louise F. Bryant of Norfolk, Lorraine F. Foster of Frisco, Texas and Joyce F. Rabil

of Franklin; two brothers, James J. Flowers of Drewryville and Ralph H. Flowers of Sedley; four grandchildren, Scott L. Thomason and wife Carla of Franklin, Jennifer L. Harrell of Carrollton, Ga., Sara A. Thomason and Katherine M. Dorn, both of Orlando, Fla.

A memorial service was held Monday at Courtland Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Speight officiating.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Courtland Baptist Church, P. O. Box 148, Courtland, Va. 23837.
