COURTLAND—Madge Drake Fowler, 77, widow of William Holland “Bud” Fowler, died March 30, 2008.

Born in Newsoms, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Mable Whitley Drake.

Mrs. Fowler was also predeceased by a sister, Emma Leigh Matthews and two brothers, Andrew and Harry Drake.

She was retired from Futrell’s Pharmacy, Pentapco, and High’s Ice Cream. She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister, Jean Vinson of Franklin; a sister-in-law, Vivian Drake of Franklin; two nieces, Barbara Gray of Franklin and Judy Hachey of Como, NC;

and two nephews, Jimmy Drake of Franklin and Timmy Drake of Courtland.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Speight officiating.

Burial followed in Beaver Dam Church cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Courtland Baptist Church, P. O. Box 148, Courtland, Va. 23837 or Courtland Volunteer Rescue, P. O. Box 439, Courtland, Va. 23837 .

Wright Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
