PETERSBURG-Tidewater Academy’s bid for a state championship in boys’ basketball ended here Friday in the Virginia Independent Schools Division 3 semifinals.

The Warriors lost 56-44 to top-seeded Evangel Christian of Richmond. Tidewater Academy finished the season with a 20-7 record under Coach Walter Westbrook.

Evangel Christian advances to meet North Cross for the state championship Saturday. North Cross beat Carlisle School 53-51 in Friday’s other semifinal.
