A car crashed into the woods near the entrance ramp to Route 58 bypass at South Street just outside Franklin Tuesday afternoon, closing the two eastbound lanes of traffic for at least 30 minutes.

State police and rescue units were on the scene of the 4 p.m. wreck and also closed the entrance ramp from South Street to eastbound Route 58 bypass.

It was not immediately known about injuries from the crash, but passengers were seen walking around the scene.

Traffic was backed up to the Armory Drive exit on Route 58 bypass.
