The Franklin High School girls basketball team is ranked third in the state in this week’s Associated Press Group A poll. The Lady Broncos, 11-1, received two first-place votes from sportswriters and broadcasters who participate in the poll. Franklin hosts Chesterfield on Tuesday.

The Tidewater Academy boys basketball team maintained its No. 6 ranking this week in the Virginia Independent Schools Division 3 poll. The Warriors, 12-4, host rival Southampton Academy on Tuesday.

Southampton Academy’s girls are ranked fifth in the state in the VIS Division 3 poll. The Lady Raiders are 10-1.

Isle of Wight Academy beat rival Southampton Academy 51-40 in boys hoops action Tuesday night in Courtland. Andy Webb paced the Chargers with 22 points and 10 rebounds. William Doyle had 12 points for SA.
