NEWSOMS—Roy and Lynn Richards of Newsoms are excited to announce the engagement of their niece, Ada Lynn Caroline Grimes to Richard Colin Butler, son of Rebecca and the late John “Buster” Butler.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Linwood and Rose Grimes of Chesapeake.

Grimes is a 2000 graduate of Southampton High School. She is currently employed with ATC Panels in Franklin.

Butler is a 1994 graduate of Franklin High School.

He is currently employed with Adam W. Moore Logging in Ivor.

An engagement party was given on Oct. 20 at the home of Brooks Hamic and Davey White. It was hosted by Brooks Hamic, Davey White, Heather and Phil Darden and Tommy and Katie Butler.

The wedding is planned for May 17 in Franklin.
