Mr. Horne was born in Norfolk, the son of the late Frederick William Horne Sr. and also predeceased by a niece, Heather Spady.

He retired from the Steam Fitters and Pipe Fitters Union, Local 110 of Norfolk.

He was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge No. 30. Ronald loved fishing and drag racing.

Survivors include his mother, Diana E. Outlaw Horne of Chesapeake; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn H. Spady and Frank Spady II of Portsmouth and Janet H. Mathias of Smithfield; brother, Frederick W. “Billy” Horne Jr. of Chesapeake; stepbrother, James “Jimmy” Holland III of Richmond; and nieces, Jennifer Mathias, Jessica Pelky, Judith Mathias and Amy Hill and husband Bryce Hill; and several great-nieces and -nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today in Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with the Rev. Jim George officiating.

Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
