COURTLAND—Michael Lee Brooks, 57, died Jan. 1, 2008.
Mr. Brooks was born in Petersburg and was a longtime roofing and siding contractor. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed motorcycles, horseback riding, and playing guitar.
Survivors include his wife Janet Hanna Brooks; six sons, Michael Lee Brooks Jr. and wife Christine of McHenry Ill., Robert Brooks, Jeremiah Brooks, Charles Cain Brooks, all of Hopewell, Jacob Winters and Joseph Winters, both of Columbus, Ohio; his mother, Joyce Stancil Aultman of Hopewell; his father, Ira Brooks of Dinwiddie; a sister, Janice Nelson of Hopewell; three brothers, Kenny Brooks of Dinwiddie, Jerry Boyette and Randy Stancil, both of Hopewell; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Maygen, Skyler, and Nasstija Brooks, Charles Cain Brooks Jr., and special grandchildren, Ryan and Mikayla Brooks; and many special friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 am Saturday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Hawkins officiating.
Burial will follow in Capron Cemetery.
The family will
receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to the Michael & Janet Brooks Memorial Fund,
