Thorne, 79, died Dec. 30, 2007.

Mrs. Thorne was born in Isle of Wight County, the daughter of the late Elsie Rollins Powell and William Powell.

She retired from Birdsong Peanuts.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Theo Thorne of Suffolk; daughter, Betty A. Billups of Irving, Texas; son, Michael Lee Thorne of Elberon; grandchild, Michelle Lynn Thorne-Nichols of Capron; great-grandchildren, Alexzandera, Priscilla, Adam, Breanna, Robert and Sara Nichols; brother, Floyd Powell of Suffolk; grandson-in- law, Robert Mark Nichols; and daughters-in-law, Barbara R. Thorne and Teresia Thorne.

A graveside service was held Thursday in Woodland United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Roger D. Johnson officiating.

Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, was in charge of arrangements.
